Basil infused watermelon cocktails

Remember that basil infused vodka I made? I turned it into a refreshing, lightly sweet summer cocktail with a bit of fresh watermelon, basil leaves, lemon juice, triple sec and ice.

I've always been partial to pink drinks. There was definitely a period of time where whenever I was at a bar I shamelessly requested "anything pink" from the bartender every chance I got. Now, whenever I am at a bar, I usually request "anything gin"- but that's another story.

I love how refreshing, summery and light this cocktail is, I made it for a girls night watching bachelorette a couple of weeks ago, and again (including a virgin variation) for father's day dinner with my family tonight.

This was so easy to make, and very quick. I cubed up some fresh watermelon, ripped up a few basil leaves, and added a couple cubes of ice to my blender. I squeezed in some lemon juice then blended away.

The triple sec and vodka can be added to drinks in a shaker and served for those who want a little punch, but for people just looking for a fruity drinks (or for example, my cousin's kids who are under age) the watermelon/basil/lemon combination still makes a delicious refreshing drink.

  2. Basil infused vodka sounds wonderful, especially in the watermelon cocktail! I love watermelon and basil together in a salad so it would be perfect in a drink! Your cocktail is a such a pretty pink color by the way!! :)
